An Old Soldier’s Prayer

I have fought when others feared to serve.
I have gone where others failed to go.
I've lost friends in war and strife,
Who valued Duty more than Love of Life.

I have shared the comradeship of suffering and pain.
I have searched Bad Lands for men we lost, in vain.
I have daughters, sons who serve democracy,
Who fight to ensure that other lands are free.

I have seen the weak forsake humanity.
I have heard the traitors praise our enemy.
I've seen brave, courageous men become even bolder,
I've seen Loyalty, Honour, and Sacrifice of Soldier.

Now I understand the meaning of life,
And mourn the loss of brothers in arms.
For those who have answered our country’s call,
I pray, God bless them and protect them all.

Obviously I never knew Sean Binnie. But I was a SOLDIER and my heart aches when one is lost, to his family, his friends and his Mates, I wish I could do more to ease the pain.

I also would like to send my sympathy's to Sean Binnie's family, I am the mother of a soldier serving in the Black Watch for the last 14yrs, I also live in Northern Ireland (Bangor).
My heart is breaking for that poor girl and his family, May he rest in peace now and Amanda finds the strength on Wednesday when she goes to bring Sean's body home as this I'm sure is every families nightmare of our son's and husbands who are out in Afghanistan just now.
